Department

As part of the Risk Department, you will be at the center of Société Générale business. The Risk Department aims to contribute to the development of business lines and their profitability through a challenging risk culture.

Working within the Risk Department is intellectually stimulating, and current economic activities guide our analysis on a daily basis. As a key business partner, the department is in close proximity to all of the Group’s business lines. Joining us would mean integrated into a network of proven excellent at the very center of bank’s activities, opening access to new and exciting development opportunities.

Within the Risk department, Models (MDL) act as the first line of defense (LOD1) on the scope of models serving the credit risk framework in the broad sense (IRB, IFRS9, Stress Tests, Environmental Risks on Credit Risk, Wholesale Rating) and operational risk. There are two teams under MDL (a) MDL/MOD which is responsible for Page 2 / 3 ABOUT YOUR ROLE ABOUT YOU development, calibration, and monitoring of model, and (b) MDL/DAT which is responsible for construction of modelling and monitoring bases and data quality management of models.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

ROLE DESCRIPTION (SUMMARY):

At a high level, banks grant loans to retail and wholesale customers; the risk associated with not receiving the money back is termed as “Credit Risk”. Banks need to keep money aside to cover for these losses. The job is primarily to develop statistical models to quantifying this risk, so that adequate amount of money can be kept aside to cover for these losses. The MDL/MOD team develops, monitors, and calibrates these models, Whereas
the MDL/DAT team constructs the data required by MDL/DAT and other teams requiring similar data.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Analyst, your mission would be:

  • Complete model development, monitoring, calibration, or data preparation missions forthe models developed by Société Générale Group MDL team.
  • Deliver missions within agreed timelines, with desired quality benchmarks.
  • Support MDL team in investigations.
  • Ensure adherence to Group standards and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare a report to communicate results and findings from the missions.
  • Present the results and findings to stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Masters (or similar) in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Finance or Engineering, or a track record of performance that demonstrates this ability.

KEY SKILLS:

Required:

  • Programing knowledge in SAS or Python or R.
  • Excellent written (documentation) and oral communication skills in English.
    Preferred:
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in regulatory credit risk (PD, LGD and EAD) and/or provision
    (IFRS9) models
  • Exposure to banking book and knowledge of BASEL/IFRS9 guidelines is highly desirable;
    Exposure to guidelines from European Regulators is desirable
